FAQ’s – Frequently Asked Questions
- How much does a CCTV System or Intruder Alarm cost?
The cost of a CCTV system will depend on a variety of factors. How many cameras? What type of cameras ie; fixed or moveable? What resolution 4mp, 8mp 12mp etc? How much recording time is required? Depending on the hard drive fitted and what type of cameras you decide to have fitted will all have an effect on how much recording time is available. Do you require the cameras to notify you via an APP if they detect motion? All these variables can be discussed with our expert surveyors who will advise you on the options available.
The cost of an intruder alarm system will depend on a variety of factors. How much protection is going to be fitted? How do you want to control the system ie; how many keypads, proximity fobs, wireless fobs are required? Do you require external protection? Do you want to have the system connected to an APP, which will allow you to receive notifications of system events ie; Alarm activated, alarm turned on, alarm turned off etc. It can also be used to monitor smoke detectors, carbon monoxide detectors, water leak detection, panic buttons, medical alarms etc. Is the system required to be connected to an Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC) for police action. All these variables can be discussed with our expert surveyors who can provide a free, no obligation survey and quotation.
2. How long will it take to install?
CCTV – This would depend on how many cameras are being installed over what area. To give an idea, a fairly standard 4 camera system installed in a domestic or small commercial property would be installed in a day.
Intruder alarm – This would depend on the type of system being installed, but most wireless systems would be installed in a day with a minimum of fuss and NO MESS.
3. Why should i choose armour security?
Armour Security is an NSI NACOSS Gold approved company and, as such, is accepted by any insurance company as TradeCraft installers and maintainers of Intruder Alarms, CCTV and Access Control Systems. We are also registered with the Met and Local Police Forces to request Police response to intruder alarm systems when connected via an ARC.
In normal events, incidents reported to the Police by an ARC are not considered complete with the issue of an incident number for the benefit of insurance companies.
Above all, we are a friendly independent company who pride ourselves on our level of customer service and the business relationships we develop with them. All our engineers are fully qualified, insured and have a friendly easy going, but professional manner that gets excellent acclaim. #YourSecurityOurPriority
4. How long has Armour-Security been going
Armour Security were founded in 1983 and have been run by the same management team since then. We have been in the Enfield area for over nearly 40 years and enjoy employing local people and training local engineers to our high standard, to become reliable and trustworthy members of our team.
5. What significance is NSI/NACOSS Gold
This is an excellent question. If you select an NSI NACOSS Gold company to install your system, you are assured of getting a TradeCraft installation that is completed to the highest standard and issued with a certificate to verify this.
This is perfectly suitable to satisfy any insurance company, if they require you to have an intruder alarm fitted. Many Alarm Companies, particularly those without this accreditation will not explain this, but in the event of having a claim, try justifying the lack of a NSI installation certificate when the insurance company starts investigating.
With Gold companies, you are further assured that the company management system is certified to ISO standards. NSI demands a high standard and provides a complaints service, where customers can have an independent third party to interact with if they feel that the company or system has not performed to expectations.

6. How often should I update my system
This depends a lot in technology but most systems don’t have any built in obsolescence so, if it is all in working order you won’t need to update at all.
Obviously, things improve and new system/ideas come out of beta testing all the time. If you deal with a responsible company such as Armour Security, we keep you appraised and discuss any new products that we might think are an improved innovation and help you decide whether they are worth making changes or not. The decision remains yours and will not impact on your NSI certificate unless we tell you differently. #YourSecurityOurPriority
7. Can I add to my system once its installed
Intruder alarms – Most intruder alarm systems are wireless nowadays, so are very easy to add to once installed. For example, you might initially decide to have downstairs windows contacted and then upstairs at a later date. This wouldn’t present a problem at all.
CCTV – Most CCTV systems would be limited by the amount of cameras that can be connected to the DVR/NVR that has been specified. Most DVRs/NVRs start as a 4 camera unit then go to 8, 16 and 32. If you feel that you might need to add additional cameras in the future, it would be cost effective to install a higher capacity DVR/NVR at the time of installation
8. How much disruption is there on installation
We are going to say, “You won’t know we’re there and you wouldn’t know we’d been.”
At Armour, we pride ourselves on the standard of our workmanship and how neatly we finish off our installations. Most intruder alarm systems are wireless now, so there is very little disruption in terms of installation, and all our engineers vacuum, tidy up and take away all the rubbish and detritus from site.
Our slogan is ‘London’s Neatest Alarm Installers’
9. What advantage is it to have a monitoring company
An Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC) is usually used if the customer requires police response. Any type of property can get police response to their intruder alarm system provided the system conforms to the required standard and has been installed by an approved installer. Monitored systems mean that you will always get a response to the system as the ARC will inform both police and nominated keyholders in the event of a system activation
